The Rhea County Commission is talking about possibly beginning to live stream the County Commission meetings each month. Mark Cashman, District 9 County Commissioner, brought up the idea at last week's meeting.
We reached out to County Commissioner Cashman and asked him what gave him this idea.
"Voters brought it up to me on the campaign trail," Cashman replied.
Cashman also advised that there are some residents in the community that would love to be involved with the meetings and attend, however, they can't make it to every meeting due to different reasons.
"This will not only help with the people who can't get to the meetings when they really want to, but it will also help with transparency of the meetings as well,” Cashman said.
Cashman is the chairman of a committee that was formed to explore this idea further and he hopes that his fellow committee members, alongside himself, can come up with a strategy to present before the board of commissioners so that it can, hopefully, be approved to begin live streaming these meetings.
"It's about helping people keep updated on what's going on with our community," Cashman said.
